Cranial Implants PEEK

PEEK is currently the material of choice for the reconstruction of large cranial defects with a patient-specific inlay implant.

Besides the perfect fit, unique fixation and suture method (see below) and perfect cosmetic reconstruction, the advantages of PEEK are:

  • Mechanical properties comparable to bone
  • Excellent biocompatibility
  • Can be modified interoperatively
  • Compatible with CT, MRI and radiation therapy
  • Inlay implant to mimic bone thickness and restore intercranial pressure
  • Autoclave (steam) sterilisation

Indications

  • Calvarial reconstructions after decompressive craniectomy; tumour or aneurysm surgery
  • Resorption of autologous bone graft
  • Cranial reconstruction in patients with an increased risk for bone resorption
  • Failure of PMMA cranioplasty

Innovative InterFix technology: Place, Drill & Fixate

Our PEEK implants are equipped on default with our patented tangential fixation technology that eliminates the need for additional plating and fixation systems and offers a fixation mechanism that is not palpable by the patient.

Alternatively, we can provide the implant with small straight holes along the edge that allow it to be fixated with (dogbone) plates and screws without needing to drill into the implant.

Suits your suture: XSuture

Our patented suture method Xsuture facilitates the use of curved suture needles through the X-shaped holes in the implant.

  • easily suspend the dura to the inside of the implant.
  • attach the temporal muscle áfter the implant is fixated.

XSuture allows the use of every common curved suture needle, so it really suits your suture!
