Anatomical models

An anatomical model makes patient-specific anatomy tangible. While 3D images provide insight on screen, a physical model offers a clearer understanding of shape, volume and complexity.

Based on CT data, the anatomy is translated into an accurate 3D-printed model. This model helps the surgeon to understand and plan the procedure more effectively in advance. At Xilloc, we also use these models as a standard part of our process to verify that the design and fit of implants match the real surgical situation.

For a better understanding of shape, volume and complexity

In situations that are difficult to assess

Anatomical models are used for, among other things:

  • Complex anatomy or abnormalities
  • Large or difficult-to-interpret defects
  • Preoperative planning of surgical procedures
  • Assessing implant fit and design
  • Education and discussion of the procedure within the treatment
For greater confidence and a precise result

From planning to controlled execution

From CT data to a physical model

Based on CT data, a patient-specific 3D model is created that accurately represents the anatomy, including the defect to be treated. The corresponding CT scan protocol can be found on our downloads page.

Insight and preparation

The model provides immediate insight into the shape and complexity of the situation. Surgeons can assess the anatomy from different perspectives and plan the procedure more effectively in advance.

Rehearsal and verification

The model can be used to rehearse parts of the procedure and to verify whether the chosen approach matches the anatomy. This supports thorough preparation and greater confidence during the operation.

Quality control

Within the production process for our implants, we also use anatomical models for quality control. In this way, we verify that the design and fit of the implant correspond exactly to the situation in the operating theatre.

Sterile delivery

The anatomical models are delivered sterile, so that they can be used directly in the sterile field in the operating theatre without affecting the sterility of the implant.
