Cranial implant PEEK

Our PEEK cranial implants are used for a wide range of reconstructions, including:

  • Cranial reconstruction following decompressive craniectomy, tumour surgery or aneurysm surgery
  • As an alternative to an autologous bone graft
  • In cases of resorption of a previously placed autologous bone graft
  • In patients at increased risk of bone resorption
  • Cranial reconstruction in patients at increased risk of bone resorption
  • Revision cranial reconstruction following failure of a previous reconstruction
Comparable to bone. Reliable in practice.

The benefits of PEEK

Each implant is fully tailored to your preferences and the patient’s specific clinical situation. In our Xilloc Portal, you will find all options relating to material, fit, shape and fixation.

PEEK implants are designed with mechanical properties comparable to bone and are widely used for larger cranial defects. They are compatible with CT, MRI and radiotherapy. The implant supports restoration of normal intracranial pressure relationships.

If required, the implant can still be adjusted during surgery, although this is rarely necessary thanks to our ‘perfect fit’. PEEK implants can also be combined with the One Stage service, helping to simplify the surgical process further.

Designed for simplicity and control

Application and fixation in the operating theatre

XSuture / MSuture

Integrated suture options make it easy to secure the dura and soft tissue using standard needles, tailored to different diameters. This enables you to work quickly and with control during cranial closure.

Interfix

Integrated screw fixation ensures stable, flush placement of the implant without additional plates or fixation devices. This means fewer handling steps and an implant that sits correctly from the outset.

Instructions engraved in the implant

Important information is engraved directly into the implant as visual guidance. For example, the number ‘7’ indicates that a screw length of 7 mm should be used. This makes key instructions immediately clear in the operating theatre.

Cranial connect

For large defects where a single implant is not feasible, the reconstruction can be built up from multiple parts. The implants fit together and are fixed to one another using short screws, enabling you to work in a controlled and stepwise manner even in larger and more complex reconstructions.

Shunt holes

Where necessary, we provide the implant with an opening for an existing shunt so that it can remain in place when the bone flap is replaced, without additional adjustments during surgery.

Also suitable for One Stage procedures

PEEK implants are used in One Stage procedures, in which resection and reconstruction take place within a single operation. The implant, planning and supporting tools align seamlessly, enabling the procedure to be carried out in a controlled and efficient way.
